It has been few years since the land mark film in Indian film history was released. The benchmark of modern day film making for Indian audiences ? Lagaan has set itself in such a plateau that few films have come closer to it in various departments. The films music by itself stands apart as a classic work of art, which requires special accolades.
Of course, the list of several awards including the prestigious Academy award nomination for the year 2001 speaks volumes of the films superiority. I have taken all these into consideration and have been working on a presentation of layering the film?s fantastic background score by AR Rahman into a musical journey across life?s various facets, much like the film itself. Please consider my version of the film?s score, which I prefer to call it as ?Lagaan ? The Shades of Life edition?. This edition is my version of representing the musical score of the film, representing the shades of anyone?s life.
It is about 19 mins in length with excellent sound quality. I would recommend you to spend that extra time in downloading this version. There are no extra beats, vocals or any other rendition added, apart from what Rahman had originally composed for the motion picture. I bet it would make a good time spent and would give you an opportunity to appreciate the other side of Lagaan?s music, the one that is not in the audio CD.
