This simple track has all the right elements in place. Good lyrics,great singing and a very simple groove. I just added few elements and bumped the feel to a rather groovy kind. The kind of stuff that say a Rishi Rich project or any of the Indo-Brit producers make, very prominent baselines combined with a nice juicy disco kick beats.

I didn’t take it to the extreme in that direction and stayed closer home to the original. I hope you like this mix!

World Classical Tamil Conference Theme by AR Rahman free download

The theme song of the World Classical Tamil Conference, written by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi and set to music by maestro A. R. Rahman.The song captures the essential aspects of various great Tamil literary works, including those from the Sangam Age.

It features 70 singers drawn from both classical and popular streams of music.

The 5.5-minute song is featured as streaming media and as a downloadable mp3 file on the website.

Filmed by Gautam Vasudev Menon, the song begins with veteran singer T.M. Soundararajan rendering the lines ‘Pirapokkum Ella Uyirkkum.’

It brings out the melodious blending of the traditional Tamil nagaswaram and tavil with the guitar and drums. To emphasise the greatness of classical Tamil, the line, ‘Semmozhiyaana Tamizh mozhiyaam,’ runs through the song. In seeking to capture the spirit of the hoary language, Mr. Karunanidhi has included references to the works of Tholkapiyar, Thiruvalluvar, Kamban and Ilango Adigal.

The World Classical Tamil Conference, to be held in Coimbatore from June 23 to June 27, will begin with the rendering of this theme song. Mr. Karunanidhi formally launched the song in Chennai on May 15.

AR Rahman Vs Michael Jackson – The ‘JAM’ Mashup

Imagine if this had happened. MJ and Rahman on a single stage.Will it did happen for Ekam Satyam, but no one seems to have any damn record of it. But i am talking of full on blast concert creating a mother load of a mash-up to be embedded in the books for ever! Imagine such a treat for the world audience!!

It was one of those days again when i was doing parallel processing in my brain and found a great way to probably imagine how it would sound if we put 2 great tracks in a single mix. I did this mix very quickly, like in few hours,dint clean the mix in great detail because i wanted a ‘live feel’ and to achieve it, i let the sound bounce on its volume a bit.It feels raw and but thats how it should be i think.

To me it sounds awesome. AR Rahman’s track from Shivaji – The Boss mixed with Micheal Jackson’s Jam!!

This is my way of imagining what the world has missed out!

Oh by the way, this is by no means my best work. I go onto much more detail, so please don’t judge me based on this.

1947 earth – Dheemi Dheemi – The Minimal Mix

One of the most melodious tracks by Rahman comes from his work in 1998 for the movie 1947- Earth. Infact all tracks in this film are quite radical, just like the next one he did for Water. The track Dheemi Dheemi has Hariharan singing solo with very little accompaniments. Somehow the track has this awesome effect, which i think only rahman knows. He knows what not to put in a composition to get the desired result.

Anyways, i used my toys to make a real minimal mix.Some mixing stunts, no gimmicks, just a simple minimal feel I hope you guys like it! and as always leave your comments.

Achieving in life is something. Being grounded is totally different and many are unable to handle success and withstand other people’s success either. One such man is Bappi Lahri. He has been around since time immemorial and he is older than most buildings in Bombay. However, he seems to have lost it this time. Many music composers have gone on record criticizing their peers on the quality of work, including the very talented hot head Ismail Darbar who stated that his work for Kisna was better than what Rahman had given ( read here). Recently the tamil veteran actor Radha Ravi had openly critizised Rahman for going too international and ignoring home soil.He says Tamils have been fooled since ages and this cannot be tolerated.

I think he forgot that during the Academy award function with over 40 million viewers watching Live, this man (Rahman) thanked in native tounge. He has included a tamil track in his first hollywood production and included a tamil version of Maa Tujhe Salaam in all Indian and International releases. He did not move to mumbai and kept Chennai his home ground.How can he be labeled in a manner that Radha ravi did? Beats me.I don’t understand if these things are a matter of momentary lapse of reason or sheer jealousy. Either way a good treatment can go a long way.

It is not a ‘Tamil’ thing. It is about being rooted.

This is a sick trend. When you cannot digest other people’s success and blast out in denial mode, then theres something wrong in your head. It is not just about Rahman bashing. Lot of them in the media lash out on other successful people to create some noise and flutter for no ones benefit. However time tests everyone and those who can tide over it, stay. Rest either die or live in denial mode.

Jealousy is bad guys. Its got ‘lousy’ as a last name ( my own original!!..:) )
