Guzarish – The Absurd Alternate Mix. A take on 80s style of arrangement

by wiredbeats on August 19, 2009

I remember few weeks ago me and my friends had a short discussion on how the simplest track from Rahman’s Gajini became the most popular. Guzarish has a simple melody and an equally simple arrangement by Rahman’s standards. Somehow the song sounded fresh, may be it is the voice or just that the track de-cluttered itself from some of the ‘loud’ bhangra tracks belted out by the likes of Pritam.
We spoke about how Guzarish was very ‘bollywoodish’ in its essence. We wondered how other contemporary music composers if the 80s would have done it. Same tune, but a very bollywood style dholak and jhankar beats!
So here I present a unique or rather absurd version of Guzarish – The Absurd alternate mix. A parody take on how 80s style music directors would have done Guzarish.
By the way, don’t judge me by this ‘absurd’ mix. I have changed the groove of the original tracks in a decent way.
Sample these two if you will

Guzarish – The Vocal Blend and Dub Remix (Gajini)

by wiredbeats on December 30, 2008

I have this unyeilding urge to remix Rahman’s toughest numbers. You can check out my remix section to download some of my remixes of Rahman’s numbers. I have a lot more of them which i plan to upload in days to come. Anyways. When the sound track of Gajini got released i did an instant comparison with the Harri’s Jeyaraj’s Tamil version. I must admit that the tamil sound track is superb. While that remains, Rahman’s version in Hindi is rather interesting. My favourite is the track Guzarish which grows on you and starts to sound amazing after 5 replays.

This track has a simple beat layered by awesome vocals. Any attempt to remix the track would be futile, and this is what tempted to ‘tamper’ with the track. This track is easy to beatmap into a 170BPM mode and add a trance groove, but then the song dies. I tired something else and the i killed the song yes! However, to me it is an interesting mix. Not good, just interesting. [click to continue...]
