I played Daud a few days and thought i should complete a long pending project i left at 60%, a club trippy mix of Oh Bhavare. Hope you guys like it, its very Tiesto and Armin Van Burren in few places. I tried so hard to get their sound here and ya coupled with a infectious groove of Rahman – What a result!

So here it is. By the way, this is first time i have attempted a mix like this. So comments are really welcome. Even the bad ones!!

This amazing ballad (if i can call it) is about the girl asking  for everything for a boy as long as he remains happy. Smiling. Unconditionally. As long as he gives the warmth of the sunlight to her, as long as she seeks. The solo cello at the beginning is worth dying for and the later rhythm is worth preserving.  Here the music talks to you.

I found this to be an outstanding track to mix.

I wanted to treat it with utmost respect.

This track is so well sung and mixed by Rahman that it was suicidal for me to even attempt a mix, unless I get a brainwave. Which I did.

This track as I am told is composed in Raag Purvi is a song praying for love which has no boundaries of person or character.

I present to you a very special mix. I have digitially removed the music and retained only the vocals to give the fresh feel. To this I have added new drums and some guitar to give it a new tough. Ofcourse not better than the original!

This feels like a song which is totally recomposed to suit the western ballad style.

Try this and you will feel young. Let me know.

Few songs in the soundtrack are very simple yet enchanting. While others are quite complex in rendition.  I took one of my favorite tracks and tried to give it a tasteful new look. A sort of pop/hip-hop groove to a track that was inherently very groovy and on your face with the message of perseverance. The track ‘Mitwa’ has a very catchy hook created totally with percussions and bass, something I believe only Rahman can think of.

I used the same hook and introduced a new interlude in what I believe is a tastefully done remix. So, here I go with my Mitwa – The Perseverance Mix.

As always the composer is the king. Remixer is not.

When it comes to making a killer track on a beautiful lady, there is only one man here in india. You know who! Be it Aditi,Urvasi,Rukumani, Cindrella or any other metaphor, Rahman succeeds gracefully in getting it into the poetic lexicon. And now its Masakali. An innocent track with a pigeon as a prop is buzzing the nation’s speaker systems.Needless to say there are countless remix versions blasting through woofers and tweeters. I have heard to some 35 odd remixes of Masakali and they also sounded the same! Same four-bar beats, same trance synths and same everything else.

Well, then i decided to put my pea brain on a overdrive and make a real unique mix.This is a rock show version. A real thumpy,edgy rock feel with a  brand new interlude.Something i started to do offlate and you guys seemed to have loved it.

Taal has a special place. The music released just 2 days before my birthday on June 10th and everyone i knew had bought an audio cassette of the soundtrack to give it to me as a present. On 10th i was left with 11 copies of the audio cassette, apart from the one i bought for me on the release day . None of the 11 who presented me the Taal cassette know about this.

…then i went from pillar to post to pre-book the audio disc. Eventually those who could not buy me a gift on the birthday gave me Taal audio discs. So i was left with 5 copies. Thats 11 cassettes and 5 audio CDs..Apart from the ones i bought myself.Thats a lot of Taal.

So much goes by with time. I remember discussing the tracks with few close friends who have gone their separate ways now. Where are you guys?

anyways..

10 years hence, i realize that the main track in the CD is a cleverly conceived hip-hop groove! Ishq Bina has a hip-hop base and it took me the 10th year to realize..

So without killing the very soul of the track, i managed to program an ‘innocent mix’ of the class act of a track thats Ishq Bina. I call it the platonic edit mix. Did not touch the feel of the track, stayed away a good 5 feet from being tempted, added salt and pepper for taste to this great track.
